Februrary 25, 2006 Sleuth Mystery Dinner ShowOrlando

Well, this is a little late in coming, but something should be said about our great evening together recently in Orlando.

On Saturday, Feb 25th, about 30+ of us met at McDonalds on Bearss at Florida and boarded a cushy tour bus for a trip east.  We headed out about 5pm and stopped en route at Buddy Freddies near Plant City to pick up a few more.  I think we had a total of 34 members and a couple of visitors.  My count could be off by a couple, but it’s close.  We were on our way to the Sleuth Mystery Dinner Show in Orlando.  It should go without saying that sitting in the luxury of a tour bus and leaving the driving to someone else is the O-N-L-Y way to travel I-4.  We had TVs on board playing old Seinfeld episodes and we arrived all relaxed and ready for a good meal and some live entertainment.

Everyone I talked to thought the food was pretty good; surprisingly good.  The choices were Cornish game hen, prime rib, and lasagna.  I didn’t try the lasagna, but can verify that the game hen and prime rib were very good (Vilawan and I split our meals).  On the tables were carafes of red wine and white wine and pitchers of beer and coke or tea.  I’ve heard of some places where the service is terrible but the food is so bad you don’t mind waiting.   This definitely wasn’t the case here.  Good food and constant service the whole evening.

We had a really entertaining mystery play put on for us and all had a part in trying to solve the mystery.  Oh. . . it should be noted that Debbie R made what we’re pretty sure will be her debut into big time show biz.  She was on stage front and center at the beginning of the play.  And, Wow!  What stage presence!  In the end, I guess we were all successful in picking the culprit because nearly every character in the play had something to do with the crime that was committed.  But it was fun.  Lots of laughs and lots of fun!

When the play and dinner were over, we were especially thankful to have a tour bus waiting to take us back to Tampa.  Some of us were just tired and sleepy.  Most of us were overstuffed and tired and sleepy.  And some were all that and more from trying to keep the pitchers and carafes emptied all evening.

We had another nice relaxing trip back home (lots of snoring this time) and (speaking for V and me) actually got home about 1 a.m.  Tired, but a good tired from having a full evening of fun.  If you didn’t make it this trip you missed a great outing.  If we do the mystery theater thing again next year, don’t miss it.  We had a great time.
