3-28-2026 Cruise to Tavares Boat Show

6-20-2026 Cruise to Coney Island Hotdogs
Brooksville

For the Cruise to the Coney Island Drive Inn in Brooksville, we gathered at the rest area on I-75 in Wesley Chapel. Irene and I arrived around 9:45, and we weren't the first ones there. I saw Willie's car there and was quite surprised. Willie usually has other things to do on the weekend. But great! He was there. As you can see from the pictures, we had a great turnout for this cruise. We had the drivers' meeting @ 10:25 and were off.
We arrived at Coney Island Drive Inn about 11:20. We enjoyed lots of delicious hot dogs and, of course, lots of great conversations.
This is a really popular place. The place opened July 7th 1960 – Darrell and Gertrude Todd and Family, from Brooksville, bought and opened this place in an old boat manufacturing building. And in 1961 Elvis Presley was filming a movie in Inverness, Florida and legend has it he ventured down to Brooksville for one of the Famous Coney Island Drive-Inn Footlongs. Guy Fieri also visited Coney Island Drive-Inn in Brooksville, Florida, for his show "Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives" and highlighted its Coney dog.

Welcome to the I-75 Rest Area, where our members have gathered for an exciting adventure! Let’s rev up those engines and create unforgettable memories together. Get ready for a day filled with fun, laughter, and camaraderie as we hit the road and eat some of those Coney Island Hot Dogs!
