7-11-2026 Cruise to Cherry Pockets Steaks & Seafood, Lake Wales, Florida

What a Great Group of Folks with a Corvette Habit!
On a beautiful
On a beautiful and clear Saturday morning, the SNF Vettes met at Bob Evans in Temple Terrace. After a few minutes, John held a driver's meeting and went over the directions. The group then headed out for a
1-1/2 hour cruise to Cherry Pocket restaurant. The food was great, and the company was even better. While we were there, the Florida Chapter of the Fire + Iron Motorcycle Club pulled in to the restaurant. Lots of really beautiful bikes. After lunch, several of our group headed to a local flea market for some ice cream. What an enjoyable afternoon.
According to folklore, Cherry Pocket was discovered in the late forties by two men, one named Mr. Cherry. Because of the way the land lay with the canals, they thought it looked like a pocket, therefore… CHERRY POCKET.
It was a place for hardy fishermen and very few women. Rumor has it that at distant times there have been cock-fighting, gambling, gator wrestling, and of course lots of "Big Fish" caught in Lake Pierce and many "Big Fish Stories" to go along with that. They have heard stories of men riding their horses in the front door of the tavern, having a drink, while still mounted on the horse, and then riding out the back door. We heard even more stories of men coming in thru the front door, having more than a few drinks, and then flying out the back door with the help of a fist of a man who had even more drinks!

Good Food and Good Friends. It doesn't get any better than that!
